Cubana celebrates 24 years in business...
Cubana is an independently owned tapas restaurant and Cuban bar that started from humble beginnings, situated on Trippet Lane in November 2000 offering a burst of joyous Havana sunshine from our base on a sleepy city centre back street.
In the summer of 2014, fourteen fantastic years later co-owners Adrian Bagnoli and Brad Charlesworth decided the time was right for an exciting new chapter in Cubana’s story - our move to an amazing new home just a couple of hundred yards away. In the beautiful surroundings of Leopold Square.
There have been many highlights over the past 24 years including hosting three memorable post concert after-parties (2007-2009) for legendary 13-piece Cuban act the Buena Vista Social Club to whom Cubana became a personal favourite.
We also had the pleasure of serving infamous Panamanian boxer, the“Hands of Stone” Roberto Duran. Then came the ultimate accolade, the opportunity and the honour of cooking for Aleida Guevara, the daughter of the one and only Che Guevara, just a few months after our move to Leopold Square.
We’re renowned for our parties down the years and our 20th birthday party was set to be our best yet. As with many things, Covid has called time on our would be anniversary fiesta. Everything points to 2021 being the year normality starts to return, so we’ve decided to wait and celebrate our 21st instead – twelve months from now!
We’d like to thank everyone for playing a part of Cubana’s 20 year story and especially our fun loving customers for your loyal support over two generations
Here’s to another 24 Years – SALUD
To mark our milestone 24 year anniversary we’ve put together a selection of videos filmed at Cubana over the years culminating in a nostalgic trip down memory lane:
